A group of enthusiastic Year 6 pupils from New Road and Park Lane Primary Schools recently swapped their classrooms for high-vis jackets and hard hats as they explored the fascinating world of plastic recycling at Vanden Recycling’s reprocessing facility in Whittlesey.

They were invited to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary and to learn more about the science of recycling.

The educational visit was organised by Nadine Vousden, Vanden’s Value Enhancement Manager, with generous support from the on-site team. With plastic playing a crucial role in everyday life, from packaging and healthcare to automotive and construction, the visit aimed to highlight its value, and more importantly, the importance of recycling and circularity.

With bright minds inspired and questions flying, the day proved that it’s never too early to teach the next generation about the role they can play in shaping a more sustainable future.
